Snowshoe Adventure Session
Snowshoeing to a frozen lake with your love sounds like the perfect adventure, and a perfect setting for a shoot.
“I had this idea for so long, and I was so excited when Riley and Tyler said they were down to get some snowshoes and go,” Mecca, of Mecca R. Photography, says. “Plus, the view was incredible.”
Mirror Lake, found right off Highway 26 near Hood River, Oregon, is a year-round adventurer’s paradise; A great summer camping spot and a great place to snowshoe in the winter. And no matter the season, the stunning view of Mt. Hood rising above the treetops and reflecting in the lake is a sight to see.
The hike, a little over four miles round trip, is the perfect length for couples looking for an adventurous place for their engagement shoot, intimate wedding, or elopement: just enough to get away from the highway but not too far to make it unreasonable. You can even camp along the shoreline throughout the year.
Riley and Tyler had never been snowshoeing before, but they picked it up easily. Once they got to the lake, they explored the trail along the edge of the shore. Then, as it was completely frozen over, they ran around in the middle of the lake, with Mt. Hood looming over them. The sun danced around the edges, lighting up the treetops and warming everyone’s faces. It was almost as if Mt.Hood knew there was a shoot happening that day and was ready to show off in the bright blue sky.
“Any shoot that involves hiking, camping, or pretty much anything outdoors, I’m game,” Mecca says. “I’ll definitely be coming back here to camp in the summer.”
We absolutely love adventure sessions here on PNWedding because they’re different. It takes extra time and effort to plan these type of shoots, but what you get out of it is so worth it. You get genuine photos of you two doing what you love to do--adventuring together.
