Mommy and Me Stylized Shoot
We all have so many moments of love in life and they go beyond just the traditional wedding day. We're really excited to bring this Mommy and Me wedding stylized shoot by Caylie Mash Photography. It's a beautiful portrayal of the breadth and depth of how capturing life and memories will create new ones you'll cherish forever.
Last summer I got to work with such a fun couple and their baby boy on their wedding day. They looked forward to sneaking in a few family and breastfeeding photos. It was so beautiful and I loved capturing those moments for them. Since then, I had the opportunity to participate in a styled bridal shoot, and I thought "Teresa and I would have had so much fun doing a mommy-and-me bridal session before her wedding day!" As I got more inspired, the pieces of this styled shoot began to fall together, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Alannya and I found a gorgeous wedding dress at the Ragfinery in Bellingham for $10, we loved the idea that the dress had a second story to tell.
Kai loves sticks and rocks, and being the two-year-old that he is, they ended up getting into a giggly stick-fight. He wouldn't let it go, and that's okay! This is where he's at right now, so that's what we capture. I'm a big fan of rolling with it, especially with kids.
One of my favorite tricks for photographing kids is to either show them the photos I'm taking or to let them try taking a photo themselves. If they're not into pictures, this almost always turns things around. Kai isn't camera shy and loves reaching his little fingers towards my lens. I let him take some photos of his momma (hand-over-hand of course), and he loved it! Plus, they actually turned out really beautiful!
I hope that my couples always make time to capture the moments that are important to them, whether that's time set aside in their wedding day, or in a separate portrait session. These moments and those little freckles are worth remembering.
